At first I did not know what to think of this book. It is
not the normal type of book I read, but the unique writing style Akre uses kept
me intrigued, so I continued to read. The story was emotional and intelligent,
about a girl named Meadow formally known as Macy, and her friendship with a boy
named Dante. They are in their senior year of high school dealing with problems
most adults don't have to face.
To me the story read like a mix of a Diary and a John Green
novel, and was just as touching. There were times I became a bit lost in the
story and I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. The author,
herself, is very young and I am very impressed at what she has been able to
create and put across to the reader. The story makes you laugh, cry, and think
about things in a very different way. It does need another run through with an
editor, but still very compelling.
